December already?! Let’s take a look at some notable newsmakers from the past few weeks before the year runs off without us.

News From DC and Marvel

  • New Mutant Dani Moonstar is getting a solo comic book series for the first time.
  • The late Chadwick Boseman, who played Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
  • Popverse talked with executive editor Chris Conroy about DC’s plans to relaunch the famed Vertigo imprint next year.
  • A scene from Superman made Entertainment Weekly‘s list of the 10 best movie scenes of the year. Guess which one it is before clicking the link!
  • Hugh Jackman is open to the possibility of returning (again) as Wolverine. Whether or not that actually happens—well, we’ll just have to wait and see.

News From the Wider Comics World

  • Those of you who watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will have noticed multiple comics characters represented there, including such franchises as One Piece, Dragon Ball Z, Peanuts, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Marvel.
  • Want to catch A Charlie Brown Christmas this year? Your only shot is on December 13 and 14, when Apple — which now owns the exclusive rights and has become increasingly stingy about sharing — allows nonsubscribers to view it at no charge on their streaming service, AppleTV+. Or make yourself a Christmas present of the DVD!
  • If you’re planning a trip to Los Angeles in late 2026, you might want to stop by the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. The brainchild of director George Lucas, it will pay tribute to visual storytelling in all its forms, including comics. Smithsonian Magazine did a piece on the museum’s goals and origins.
  • NPR’s 2025 Books We Love includes a number of excellent graphic novels for you to check out (I personally really liked Crumble!).
  • Here at Book Riot, Ashlie Swicker rounded up some of the best new graphic novels for kids.
